Vegan Street Fest Big Success

Cape Coral’s inaugural Vegan Street Fest almost didn’t happen. Due to hurricane Ian the fest had to be postponed from December 2022 to March 12, 2023. There was a silver lining though, the new fest day turned out to be a beautiful spring day with a crowd attendance beyond all expectations.

Organized by Lifestyle Solutions Healthy Planet, this year’s fest boasted 48 vendors, 26 of them offering food and drinks, 3 stages, 4 speakers, yoga and Pilates classes, an awesome local DJ, live music by the dynamic father and daughter duo, the Markleys, a very successful kids zone and 5 strongly attended cooking demos with free samples. One of these cooking demos was led by our very own Chef Sam who demonstrated how he makes his world famous in SWFL Vegan Mac ‘n Cheese.

Organizers, who were hoping for 2,000 to 3,000 attendees, were bowled over by some 5,000+ people arriving on the day to support us and enjoy the festivities. For next year the organizers’ goal is to double that number. So

The purpose of the Vegan Street Fest is to educate people in the benefits of following a whole food plant based lifestyle. It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone who wants to improve their health, who loves animals and wants to make the world a fairer place and who is looking for ways to lessen their environmental footprint, to learn how a Vegan lifestyle can achieve this.

Café YOU was a major sponsor of the fest, which was held right outside our doors, so we are very excited about how successful it was. We want to take this opportunity to thank all our customers who attended and a special huge, big thank you to those customers who volunteered their time and helped organize and run the event. The event was successful because of all of YOU.

Temple Beth Shalom in Cape Coral, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on the evening April 1, 2023 with a gala dinner including a cocktail hour, commemorative presentations, dinner, dance and a silent auction. It’s all happening at the temple’s social hall at 702 SE 24th Ave and Café YOU will be there in full force providing all the food, check out the amazing menu below.

Temple Beth Shalom was founded in 1971 by a group who lived in Cape Coral that belonged to a temple in Fort Myers to create a new reform Synagogue. In 1973 they incorporated as the Jewish Community Centre of Lee County adopting the DBA name of Temple Beth Shalom. In 1978, founding member Martin Pearlstein convinced the Rosen Brothers to donate the land and $5,000 to build a new synagogue at its present location.

In addition to the big anniversary celebration, the temple will be honoring Lee Health President and CEO, Dr Larry Antonucci for his unparalleled leadership and contribution to the local community at the event. Dr Antonucci will be the event’s keynote speaker.

All the who’s who in Cape Coral will be there. If you would like to join the celebrations, tickets are $200 pp. All food and drinks are included in the price. It will be a very elegant evening with a band, a top-notch speaker, a silent auction and of course Café YOU’s delicious food. We have started a Cafe YOU customer table so you will have great company too. If you are interested in coming along, please call Marlies @ 239-233-6912.
